“Your Safety Just a Click Away”
The Department of Pharmacology at Government Medical College, BHPL, successfully organized the 5th National Pharmacovigilance Programme, guided by the theme “Your Safety Just a Click Away.” This initiative aimed to strengthen awareness around drug safety and reporting practices among future healthcare professionals.
The Programme was led by Vice Principal /Professor and Head of the Department, Dr.B.Sridhar Rao, with key contributions from Senior Residents Dr. Sruthi S Nambiar and Dr.B.Jyothi. The event was honored by the presence of the Principal Dr.J.Venkateshwarlu and Both Vice Principals of Government Medical College, Jayashankar Bhupalpally Dr.K.Rajesh, whose active involvement underscored the institution’s commitment to advancing Pharmacovigilance.
MBBS students and Nursing students from the Government College of Nursing, Bhupalpally, participated enthusiastically in sensitization and awareness sessions, followed by hands-on training on reporting adverse drug reactions (ADRs) using digital platforms. These sessions emphasized the importance of timely and accurate reporting in clinical settings, aligning with the programme’s central message that patient safety is just a click away.
A key agenda of the Programme was to advocate for the establishment of an ADR Monitoring Centre at Government Medical College, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, enabling direct reporting and analysis of drug-related issues locally—rather than relying on external regional centers. This strategic move aims to enhance responsiveness, streamline data collection, and reinforce Bhupalpally’s role in national Pharmacovigilance efforts.
Adding a creative touch, student volunteers designed thematic rangoli artworks across the college premises, visually capturing the essence of the programme and engaging the campus community.
This milestone event reflects Government Medical College, Jayashankar Bhupalpally proactive approach to fostering a culture of safety, vigilance, and accountability in healthcare education.
