FAMILY ADOPTION PROGRAMME (FAP) - DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY MEDICINE - 2024 BATCH
Department of Community Medicine, Government Medical College - Jayashankar Bhupalpally has identified Moranchapally village which comes under Ghanpur mandal with population of 1,231 inhabiting 342 houses, which is 10 km away from the medical college for Family adoption program (FAP) for 1st year MBBS students as a part of NMC curriculum. After permissions from respected principal Dr.P.Rajendra Prasad and village secretary Mr.Bandi Sareesh, visit to the village was done on 28th December-2024. Each Student adopted 2 families, whom they will follow throughout their MBBS course. FAP will improve the communication skills in students, which is the back bone of medical profession. It will improve the empathy & compassion in medical students & aid them to understand the disease profile in rural settings. Students will offer guidance & counseling to the adopted families and help them to navigate their healthcare needs. Spirit of doing something for the people and the country will improve in young students. So this program is useful in medical education and to the community.
